With Kyle Peko playing much more than Chris Smith on Defense vs.the LA Rams, I'm not surprised the Lions released Smith. He very likely will be re-signed to the Lions P.S. if as expected he clears waivers.
With Peko's 2024 base salary no longer guaranteed for the season after Smith wasn't on the Lions Opening Day 53 man roster, Peko has a pretty good chance of being signed to the Lions 53 man roster this week, or pretty soon afterwards.
