Lions projected 53 man roster ( 2024 season )

After the Lions pre-season finale vs. the Steelers, I thought Shane Zylstra had a slight edge to be the Lions # 3 TE because of the Lions limited WR depth. Zylstra offers more as a receiver than TEs James Mitchell and Parker Hesse. What very likely led to Zylstra heading to the waiver wire is he's a below average blocker. I think there's as much as a 45 % chance Zylstra is claimed on waivers. If Zylstra isn't claimed, he probably will be offered a Practice Squad Contract with the Lions, with the two parties agreeing on a PS contract.
Zonovan Knight got caught in a numbers game. I also think Knight has as much as a 45 % chance of being claimed off of waivers. If Knight isn't claimed, he's very likely in the mix to be offered a PS contract. I'm not as confident Knight will choose the Lions to sign a PS contract, if he's offered a PS contract, compared to some other teams. Including, the Jets, the team that he played with in 2022 as an UDRFA.
