I expressed the following in the 'Lions host CB Terrion Arnold (Alabama):Pre-Draft Visit' thread:
It's highly unlikely that Terrion Arnold will last to Pick # 29 or even to Pick # 20. It wouldn't surprise me if the Falcons selected Arnold with Pick # 8, though his Alabama teammate, DE/ OLB/ Edge Dallas Thomas probably has an even greater chance of being selected by the Falcons in that spot of the draft. For the Lions, it's probably going to take a jump to somewhere between Pick # 7 and the mid part of Round 1 to be able to draft Arnold. After seeing that Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell were willing to go from Pick # 32 to Pick # 12 to trade up with the Vikings in order to be able to select WR Jamison Williams in the 2022 Draft, it wouldn't surprise me if Holmes and Campbell made another bold move to get a player of Arnold's caliber.
I expressed the following in the 'Lions have Pick # 29 in the 2024 NFL Draft' thread:

Of the 3 scenarios, I like Scenario 1 (Trade Up) the best. The value the Lions would get with Terrion Arnold and Marshawn Kneeland exceeds the cost of the Lions trading away Pick # 73, in Round 3. This is even without getting back Pick # 154, in Round 5. The Lions would be getting arguably the best CB in the draft and a DE who has the potential to be a starter. With, the versatility to play in many Defensive Alignments.
I expressed the following in the 'Lions trade # 29 & # 73 to Cowboys for # 24 & 2025 7th Round'
According to the following Draft Trade Value Chart, the Lions gave up 267 points and received 237 points from the Cowboys, not including the 1 or 2 points the Lions receive from the Cowboys 7th Round Pick in 2025. On the surface, the Lions gave up a lot to move up from Pick # 29 to Pick # 24. Considering, the Lions moved up for Alabama CB Terrion Arnold, I think this is a great trade for the Lions, despite what the Draft Trade Value Charts indicates.

The Lions got a huge break when the Falcons VERY unexpectedly drafted QB Michael Penix Jr (or any QB) with Pick # 8 and when the Broncos drafted QB Bo Nix in Pick # 12. Both the Colts and Jaguars passing on CBs was also a huge break for the Lions. I thought there was a very realistic chance the Vikings would draft a QB when they traded up with the Jaguars from Pick # 23 to Pick # 17.
With Terrion Arnold and Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell the consensus top 2 CBs in this draft (the order of the two varied) and Mitchell being taken by the Eagles with Pick # 22, the Lions had to make a proactive trade up move soon, as Terrion Arnold wasn't going to last much longer. With the Jaguars selecting LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. with Pick # 23, the Lions had to make a trade with the Cowboys to go up from # 29 to # 24, because Arnold could easily have been taken by the Packers with Pick # 25, the Bucs with Pick # 26, or the Cardinals with Pick # 27. After seeing the Lions greatly benefit from the trade up with the Packers in Round 2 from Pick # 49 to Pick # 45, which resulted in the Lions drafting NB-S Brian Branch, who had one of the best rookie seasons in the NFL in the 2023 season, I don't think the Packers would have been keen on trading down with the Lions with Arnold still on the board. Hence, it was worth the Lions paying much more in trade compensation to the Cowboys than what the usual going rate is to go from Pick # 29 to Pick # 24.
Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell did a great job taking advantage of the opportunity to draft Arnold, without giving up at least the equivalent of Pick # 61, in Round 2. I didn't envision the Lions having this opportunity, as I thought prior to the draft that Pick # 17 (Jaguars) was the furthest I thought he would fall too. My Mock Draft Projection was Arnold would be selected by the Broncos with Pick # 12.
