Giovanni Manu could realistically be drafted as late as the 3rd Round through the 6th Round.
Manu is a project player, who probably won't be able to contribute on Offense as a rookie.
The team that drafts Manu needs to be prepared to keep him on their 53 man roster throughout the season. If Manu is released, he could easily be claimed off waivers. Even if Manu isn't claimed off waivers, and is put on the Practice Squad, another team could offer him a contract during the season.
Manu seems to be a better fit for a team with much lower realistic expectations than the Lions have for the 2024 season. Unless the Lions get at least one additional pick in this draft and the team brass believes that it's feasible to keep Manu on the 53 man roster all season, the Lions would be better off passing on him in the draft. If both criteria are met, the Lions should consider Manu as early as Pick # 163, in Round 5, if his Lions draft grade is reflective of being taken in that spot. My guess is the earliest would select Manu is in Round 6.
