From a Lions fan perspective, I'm glad that the Bears moved on from Justin Fields at a HUGE discount. Fields was a very difficult QB for the Lions to defend. It's far from certain that the QB they end up drafting with Pick # 1 will be an eventual upgrade over Fields.
Tremendous trade for the Steelers. While I don't anticipate the Steelers using the 5th Year option on Justin Fields, the door is open for Fields to emerge as the Steelers long term QB solution.
It was highly unlikely that the Steelers were going to reach great heights with the QBs they had in the 2023 season. Justin Fields is their best chance of having a positive difference maker at QB since before Ben Roethlisberger's physical skills declined substantially. At the very least, Fields should be a weapon for them with his legs and the threat of Halfback option type of passes, if he's QB # 2.
