The Bears gave up the 10th pick in the 4th Round for Keenan Allen.
Keenan Allen turns 32 late next month.
The Bears have the salary cap space to absorb Keenan Allen's contract, if the two parties don't work out a new contract. In very large part because the Bears don't have an expensive Vested Veteran QB on their roster. As much as Keenan Allen could help them at least this season, it's still a huge salary cap number for a WR.
With the Bears needing a compliment to WR D.J. Moore, Allen should help them greatly this season if he remains relatively healthy. Allen can be used as a Slot Receiver, a position he has excelled in, or as an Outside WR. With Allen turning 32 and missing 11 games in the last two seasons, the durability factor with Allen is the major question mark for the Bears regarding this trade?
For the LA Chargers, considering their salary cap situation, this is a good trade for them. Yet, replacing Allen, in addition to Mike Williams, at levels that give the Chargers a chance to seriously compete for the AFC West Title in the same Division as the 2-time consecutive defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs, will be an enormous uphill battle for them in the 2024 season.
