I would be surprised if Tracy Walker and/ or Halapoulivaati Vaitai are back with the Lions. Big V more likely than not has played his last down in the NFL.

Romeo Okwara has a better chance of being back with the Lions. But I think it's still less than a 50% chance he will be back with the Lions.

According to the Over the Cap website, the Lions currently have $55,919,783 in Effective Cap Space. Which, is the 8th highest in the NFL. They define Effective Cap Space as follows:

How much cap room the Lions have available to spend in free agency

My guess is the Lions are going to free up more salary cap space, probably with one or more contract extensions. Jared Goff and Taylor Decker are two veteran players that I believe are prime candidates for contract extensions, in part to give the Lions more salary cap space for 2024.

Assuming that the Lions Salary Cap number that's listed includes Rookie 1st Round selection CB Terrion Arnold, the Lions are still in very good salary cap shape for 2024.

With DT Alim McNeill and Taylor Decker scheduled to be a UFA in 2025, it would make a great amount of sense to use some of the Lions remaining salary cap dollars on attempting to sign at least one of them to a contract extension.
