Aaron Rodgers injury update: Jets fear torn Achilles for star QB with MRI looming
............
This new thread is a continuation of the following thread:
Packers trade QB Aaron Rodgers to the Jets

Horrible news for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
Great job by the Jets overcoming the loss of Aaron Rodgers in their MNF season opening comeback OT win over the Bills. Unfortunately for them, the reality of Aaron Rodgers' very likely season ending injury overshadows everything with their football situation. Zach Wilson barely did enough to help the Jets overcome a 10 point halftime deficit. But even with one of the best rosters in the NFL at the other combined positions (though their Offensive Tackle situation is a huge question mark), it's going to be very difficult for the Jets to reach the Super Bowl, let alone win the Super Bowl, with Zach Wilson.

MRI confirms Aaron Rodgers has complete tear of Achilles tendon
..........
If Aaron Rodgers doesn't play another down in the NFL, I think he has earned being a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer. Some will likely say that Rodgers 'only' won 1 Super Bowl and didn't play in another Super Bowl. My response is football is a team game. Special Teams play was very costly to the Packers in the Seahawks OT comeback win over the Packers, in the 2014 season NFC Championship Game, and in the 2021 season 49ers comeback win over the Packers, in the 2nd Round of the playoffs. The Packers Defense didn't get the job done in the Cardinals 51-45 OT win over the Packers in the 2009 playoffs and in the playoffs in some other of Rodgers' seasons with them.
If I were in the Jets position, one team in particular I would be contacting today is the Colts. Gardner Minshaw II is their # 2 QB. They are clearly rebuilding with rookie QB Anthony Richardson. It remains to be seen if RB Jonathan Taylor, who's currently on the Regular Season PUP list, will be traded before the NFL Trade Deadline.
While Minshaw has value for the Colts in their QB room, I think they would be willing to trade him for the equivalent of a 3rd Round Pick in 2024. With Wilson, I believe the Jets are good enough to be a playoff team if their injury situation the rest of the season is on the favorable side. While there would be a transition period for Minshaw as he adapts to the Jets Offensive System and personnel, he would probably give them a noticeably better chance of being a serious Super Bowl Contender than Zach Wilson.
