Going into the Lions pre-season finale at Carolina, I believe that Steven Gilmore has a very slightly better than average chance to survive the cutdown to 53. Gilmore seems to have the 'It Factor'. In addition to Gilmore not backing down, even though he's very light for an NFL CB and his playmaking abilities/ instincts, he's demonstrated against the Jaguars that he has a short memory after giving up a 48 reception (which was in essence a perfectly thrown pass). Gilmore soon after prevented a TD by breaking up a pass. Then later in the 1st Half, he came down with an interception, on a pass that he had good coverage. With the ball, deflecting off of Tracy Walker, with Gilmore securing the ball.
