Starling Thomas V is the most likely Lions 2023 UDRFA to survive the Cutdown to 53 and make the Lions opening day 53 man roster.
It's likely that Thomas will begin the Lions regular season as the team's # 3 or # 4 Outside CB. I'm not aware of Thomas having any Slot CB practice snaps. He hasn't been used in that role in the first 2 pre-season games.
Thomas has demonstrated both Kickoff Returning skills (2 pretty long KO Returns vs. the Jaguars) and as a Punt Gunner.
Thomas' aggressiveness as a CB too often has led to Illegal Contact or Defensive Holding. Defensive Infractions are the primary concern with Thomas a CB. This is something he will need to continue to work on. Finding the right mix of being aggressive and avoiding penalties should be a goal but it's easier said than done.
