Daniel Jones, Giants agree to long-term deal

A long term contract agreement with Daniel Jones and the Giants made too much sense for both parties to pass up before the Deadline for team's to tag a player. The Giants couldn't risk letting Daniel Jones or Saquan Barkley hit the open market as an UFA.

Teddy Bridgewater is much more similar to Jared Goff in his style of play at this point of his NFL playing career than Marcus Mariota. The # 1 concern with Bridgewater is he's often injured.
I hope the Lions stay clear of Carson Wentz. The current pro athlete who reminds me the post of Carson Wentz, in terms of the direction of his career, is another player who was once a high caliber player in Philadelphia: current Brooklyn Nets player Ben Simmons. Both Wentz and Simmons have suffered major injuries, with has greatly contributed to the massive fall for them. Both clearly haven't had the 'it factor' for a long time.

The backup QB market for quality # 2 QB options appears to be in favor of sellers (players). It wouldn't be surprising if the Lions invest in a QB in Round # 2 or # 3 of the 2023 Draft, in part because of the salary cap cost factor.

Falcons cut Marcus Mariota
Eagles replace Gardner Minshew with Marcus Mariota

Marcus Mariota was at or near the top of the veteran open market FA list that I was hoping the Lions signed if the price was right and everything else checked out well. Including, his knee situation and what transpired after Mariota was benched for Desmond Ridder to take over as the Falcons starting QB. If everything would have checked out with Mariota, I would have been comfortable with the Lions giving him a similar contract that the Eagles are signing him to.

Cooper Rush stays with the Cowboys

Great contract for the Cowboys. One, in which I would have been happy with the Lions giving to Cooper Rush.
Joshua Dobbs and Teddy Bridgewater are the remaining QBs on the open market that look like better options than the rest for the Lions # 2 QB position. Having said that, Bridgewater's injury history is very concerning.
Nate Sudfeld might even be in play for the Lions, to go along with a QB that the Lions draft, as the QBs behind Jared Goff on the Lions Depth Chart. Before the start of the Legal Tampering Period, I thought Sudfeld would only be back if the Lions had an injury at QB and he was the best available option at the time.
