Playoff outlook: Lions would already be in field with win, now need lots of help

The Packers weren't included in the NFC Wild Card (6th and 7th seeds) race.
The Packers play at Miami this afternoon. Then host Minnesota the following Sunday afternoon. Then host Detroit on the final weekend (Week # 18) of the regular season.
It's realistically possible that the Lions-Packers game is going to be flexed to Saturday or to Sunday Night. If both teams are 8-7, the chances of the game being flexed increase substantially. Being that Tennessee at Jacksonville in Week # 18 will almost certainly be for the AFC South Title, that game is a prime candidate to be Flexed to Sunday Night.
If the Eagles beat the Saints next Sunday, they clinch the NFC East and a first round bye. If that happens, it remains to be seen what the Eagles and Cowboys strategy is regarding resting players for the playoffs.

Playoff outlook: The Lions still need 1 more win, miracle from Rams to qualify

Lions 41, Bears 10: Game # 16 ( 2022 )
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1644/lions-41-bears-game-2022
The Lions-Packers game will likely be at 4:25PM ET/ 3:25PM CT on Sunday, January 8.
The two Saturday games have been announced:
Kansas City at Las Vegas is the late afternoon game.
Tennessee at Jacksonville is the evening game. The winner is the AFC South Champion and the AFC # 4 seed.
The NFL will very likely prefer the Lions-Packers game to be played at the same time as the LA Rams-Seattle Seahawks game. Hence, I don't think the Lions-Packers game will be the Sunday Night game. It won't be the early (`1:00pm ET/ 12:00pm CT) game, because the Rams-Seahawks game is being played in Seattle (Pacific Time Zone).

FMIA Week 17: NFL Playoff Picture Comes Into Focus As Giants Make Playoffs; Steelers, Packers Survive
My gut feeling is the NFL will still play Rodgers in primetime in a win-and-in Sunday game. Why wouldn’t the league do that? If the Seahawks beat the Rams in Seattle next weekend, Detroit would be eliminated. I would maintain Rodgers playing to put Green Bay in the playoffs is the single biggest story of Week 18, and Dan Campbell’s kneecap-biters would not lay down even if they’d been eliminated a half-hour before the game. It’s the most intriguing competitive game of the weekend.
..........
Peter King thinks differently than I do whether the Lions-Packers game will be on Sunday Night. If this game is on Sunday Night, it will be the first time that I can recall that potentially (hopefully not) a team on the final Sunday Night game of the season (since Flexing games began) will involve a team eliminated from the playoffs.
I agree with King from the standpoint that if the Lions are playing the Packers on Sunday Night and have already been eliminated from the playoffs, I expect the Lions to battle to the end. The Lions would still be playing for a winning record for the season and the opportunity to prevent the Packers from being in the playoffs. A slow start could occur, especially if the Seahawks win a close game. But soon after, I'm confident the Lions would become a dangerous football animal. With the playoffs no longer on the line, gadget plays the Packers haven't seen on Lions tape, could be used when the Packers least expect it.

NFL Week 18 flex schedule: Lions-Packers NOT moved to Saturday, SNF still possible
..........
I don't think the Giants-Eagles game will be flexed to Sunday Night. The Giants are locked into being the # 6th Seed. They easily could be resting some key players for much of, or all of the game.
If the Bills beat the Bengals tonight, the Baltimore at Cincinnati would be for the AFC North Title. That would guarantee a game with playoff implications for both teams, even though both teams clinched a playoff spot.
The Patriots-Bills game is a solid contender to be the Sunday Night game. The Patriots have a huge fan base as a result of their immense success this century. The Patriots are in a win and in situation. The danger of putting the Patriots in this spot is there's a scenario in which they could have clinched a playoff spot by the time the Sunday Night game begins.
