Isaiah Buggs has exceeded my expectations. While Buggs isn't close to being the most talented interior Defensive Lineman on the Lions, let alone in the NFL, his effort is noticeable. With Buggs, the Lions have a DT who fits the intangible mode that fits with what Dan Campbell's program is about. Buggs was the team's best interior D-Line run defender against the Eagles. Buggs' deflection of a 3rd Down pass easily could have prevented a TD. It led to the Eagles settling for a FG very late in the 2nd QTR.
Isaiah Buggs and Alim McNeill had strong performances against the Run vs. the Commanders. McNeill bounced back from a disappointing game against the Eagles. Buggs has clearly been the Lions best run Defender in the first 2 games combined.
One thing in particular that surprised me in the Lions win over the Commanders is that Washington didn't attempt to run the ball more in the first half. That much more with their first half struggles with their passing game. IMHO, this was a significant reason why the Lions built a 22-0 halftime lead.
