PFT’s Week 2 2022 NFL picks
Commanders (+2) at Lions
MDS’s take: The Lions are favored for the first time in more than a year, but I like Carson Wentz to outplay Jared Goff and the Commanders to pull the road upset.
MDS’s pick: Commanders 21, Lions 20.
Florio’s take: The top two picks from 2016 get together, with the first pick on his second team and the second on his third. This is a toss up at best. Given that the Lions don’t have many obvious opportunities to win this season, I’ll take them in a close one.
Florio’s pick: Lions 23, Commanders 20.

Until the Lions injury situation on Offense has much more clarity, I'm not even remotely confident to make a game outcome/ score prediction on this game.

5 things to watch: Detroit Lions looking for faster start from promising new offense ...........
With the Lions dealing with injuries throughout the planned starting interior Offensive Line, the Lions Defense is going to have to play much better than was the case against the Eagles. The Lions Defensive Line needs to have a positive impactful game. Forcing the Commanders into long yardage situations and ultimately coming up with at least 2 takeaways.

6 Lions who need to play better to beat the Commanders in Week 2
.........
If Amani Oruwariye is unable to play in this game because of the back injury he's been dealing with since at least yesterday (Thursday), Will Harris is going to have to play at a noticeably higher level in coverage than has been the case with him since the pre-season. Both players could lose playing time to Jerry Jacobs later this season, if they aren't more consistently effective.

Detroit News predictions: Lions vs. Commanders
........
The Lions need to protect the football. Even one turnover could cost the Lions the game. The interception return for a TD by Eagles CB James Bradburry is a play the Lions never overcame in the game.
The Lions had at least 5 drops on balls that should have been caught by receivers, vs. the Eagles. The drop by Josh Reynolds in the 4th QTR was the most costly drop in the game. Jared Goff needs to be more accurate with throws. Goff and the Lions receivers need to be on the same page, which wasn't the case at times against the Eagles. The margin of error for the Lions in this game will be low if the Lions are without any of the players on the current 53 man roster that didn't practice today.

Lions Week 2 inactives vs. Commanders: Amani Oruwariye, Jonah Jackson are out a .............
I'm surprised that Amari Oruwariye is Inactive. The reason being, that the Lions elevated LB Anthony Pittman from the Practice Squad, not Outside CB Saivion Smith. The plan likely is that if one of the starting CBs for today (Jeff Okudah and Will Harris) aren't in the game, then Mike Hughes would move outside, with Chase Lucas playing Nickel CB.
Austin Bryant being Inactive is an assumed Healthy Scratch. Another Game Day Roster decision I'm concerned about.

Commanders' inactives for Week 2 vs. Lions
..........
My prediction for the game is Lions 24, Commanders 23.
With the Lions injury situation on the Interior Offensive Line and at CB, the Lions scratch and claw to a win. With very little margin of error.
