Detroit Lions Week 2 injury report: Amani Oruwariye added, Jonah Jackson downgraded
..........
The Lions injury situation could easily have an impact on the game against the Commanders. Big V is already on IR. The other two Lions starting interior Offensive Lineman didn't practice today. Frank Ragnow didn't practice yesterday. Losing even one of them, or if even one is significantly limited, if he plays in the game, would put the Lions in a highly adverse situation.
As for DeAndre Swift, being that he downplayed the ankle injury yesterday, I'm cautiously optimistic that he will play.
Tomorrow's practice is critical regarding availability for the Commanders game.

Detroit Lions C Frank Ragnow battling another toe injury, out vs. Commanders
.........
One question that comes to mind is whether Frank Ragnow suffered the toe injury, when trying to compensate for the groin injury?
The fact that Ragnow got through the Eagles game with both injuries offers hope that the Lions are being cautious with him, hoping that keeping him out vs. the Commanders will help him recover from the two injuries. Having said that, his status beyond the Commanders game seems very uncertain at this time. There's plenty to be concerned about with his availability moving foreword this season.
The Commanders have two powerful starting DTs in Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen. Evan Brown matches up better against speed and quickness than against power. Despite Brown's limitations against bulk strength, which Payne especially has plenty of, he didn't give up a sack in the 2021 season.
The good news is that Taylor Decker, Julian Okwara, and Michael Brockers are not on the Lions Injury Report after all practicing in Full today and that no one other than Ragnow is listed as Out or Doubtful.

Lions downgrade Jonah Jackson to doubtful
Lions elevate Dan Skipper and Anthony Pittman from practice squad, downgrade LG Jonah Jackson
........
I believe best course of action for tomorrow's game would be to move Penei Sewell to RG, Logan Steinberg to LG, and either Matt Nelson or Dan Skipper to RT. Steinberg had all of (or the vast majority) his 2022 pre-season game snaps at LG. The transition for Sewell from RT to RG probably would be much smoother for him than him going back to the Left Side. When the Lions use an extra Offensive Lineman, Skipper probably would be inserted into the game at RT (if he doesn't start). With Matt Nelson being used as the extra Offensive Lineman, the position he's performed substantially better at than at RT. Skipper would probably be overmatched at Guard, because of leverage issues.
Another question is who will the Lions backup Center be? Ross Pierschbacher wasn't elevated from the Practice Squad for this game.
Because the Lions didn't elevate outside CB Saivion Smith from the Practice Squad for the game, the expectation of the team brass very likely is that Amani Oruwariye will be healthy enough to start the game.
