Three of the Lions opponents, the Packers, Bears and Eagles were coming off one sided loses when they faced the Lions. These were the three games the Lions weren't in for most of or all of the 4th QTR. The Browns are coming off a one sided loss to the Patriots. Unless the Lions respond much better after a tie ( Steelers ) than after heartbreaking losses ( Ravens, Vikings ), a game that's similar to the 20-0 loss at Carolina last November ( 52 weeks ago to the day ) is likely.

Donovan Peoples-Jones is Questionable for the game, because of a groin injury he suffered in practice this week. DPP is averaging over 20 yards per reception for tbe 2nd straight season ( his 2nd season in the NFL ). With the speedy rookie Anthony Schwartz out with a Concussion, the health of DPP becomes that much more significant.

Even factoring in injuries, I'm surprised the Browns have given up the 2nd most sacks in the NFL. The Browns Offensive Line is a strong all around unit. RT Jack Conklin is on IR ( Blake Hance is his replacement, with Chris Hubbard also on IR. ) but the rest of the line remains intact. None of the other 4 starting O-Lineman is listed as Questionable or worse. The Lions need to take advantage of Browns RT situation.

It's an uphill battle. But for the Lions, it's imperative to keep the Browns RB from taking over the game. Getting the Browns into 3rd and non short yardage situations will put the injured Baker Mayfield into situations where he has to deliver with his arm when the Lions are expecting a pass.

With the loss of Donovan Peoples-Jones and Anthony Schwartz, the Browns are much more limited vertically than they would have been with them.

My prediction for this game is Browns 20, Lions 10. I think the Browns Running Game and their Defense will be too much for the Lions to handle effectively today. But this is a game that I think the Lions have a better chance at winning than I did in the days leading up to the game and since the Matthew Stafford trade.
