I wish Romeo Okwara the best in the long and difficult recovery process ahead for him.
Julian Okwara is definitely making plenty of progress, especially as a pass rusher.
Austin Bryant has also come along way. While Bryant didn't make a major impact in yesterday's loss to the Bears, two things in particular jumped out:
1. The effort, hustle, and energy by Bryant is something that I noticed to some extent in the pre-season. It has been on display that much more in the regular season. From my point of view, Bryant brings a moxie element on Defense, much like WR Quintez Cephus does on Offense. Bryant overcame an enormous amount of injury adversity to even get to where he currently is this point in time. Bryant is becoming one of my favorite players on the Lions. He fits the direction Dan Campbell is seeking for the Lions. I'm not sure what Bryant's upside is as NFL an edge player. But he's one of the players that I'm most interested in watching in a Lions season in which wins will be hard to come by.
2. Bryant has come along way from being a one dimensional speed rusher as a rookie. It's evident that Bryant has spent plenty of time with strength and training.

Romeo Okwara moving more at this stage of Achilles recovery, motivated to get back for Detroit Lions
..........
In addition to everything Romeo Okwara expressed that was mentioned in the article, the Lions have pick # 2 of the draft. Which will likely be used on a Defensive Edge player.
With it being more likely than not that Trey Flowers will be a salary cap casualty, the freed up salary cap space, if Flowers is released, would substantially increase the chances of Charles Harris being re-signed.
Though Romeo Okwara is a major question mark for the 2022 season, the Lions Defensive Edge player situation has a realistic chance of being a major team strength.
