Danny Amendola signs with Lions
……………………. This thread is a continuation of the following thread:
NFL Free Agency Preview: Wide Receivers ( 2019 )
Three things that stand out on this end regarding the 1 year contract Danny Amendola signed with the Lions:
1. The Lions were very aggressive in pursuit of Danny Amendola.
2. The contract is for more money than was ideal. Probably, because Amendola would have taken noticeably less from the Patriots. Having said that, this contract will very likely be much less per year than a number of other slot WRs will get in the coming days and weeks. Including, Golden Tate.
3. This in essence closes the door on Golden Tate coming back to the Lions this year. It wasn't likely going to happen.

I’m comfortable with this signing. IF Brandon Powell, and any other Lion receivers, takes advantage of the opportunity to learn from Danny Amendola; this could end up being one of Bob Quinn’s best decisions.

Joe, being that Brandon Powell was very receptive to learning from Golden Tate, I'm optimistic he will do the same with Danny Amendola.

New Lions WR Danny Amendola could be a factor on special teams
…………..
The ideal situation would seem to be Ty Johnson is the Lions primary Kickoff Returner and Jamal Agnew is the Lions primary Punt Returner. With Danny Amendola a depth option at most in the Return Game. How feasible this formula is remains to be seen.

Lions sign WR Danny Amendola (ex.Dolphins) to 1 yr contract
…………….
Danny Amendola appears to be having an excellent training camp. Along with Marvin Jones and T.J. Hockenson, reports indicate that Amendola has stood out positively on a consistent basis. As long as Amendola stays relatively healthy, I believe he's going to provide the Lions with good value in 2019. Even with his contract not being on the low side.
