Lions tender 3 exclusive rights free agents including Jack Fox
..........
In a disappointing Lions overall 2020 season, all 3 players exceeded my expectations for them in the 2020 campaign. With Jack Fox providing one of the best Lions stories in a long time. With all 3 players costing very little for the Lions to re-sign, Tendering them is definitely the right decision.

Cabinda and Nelson are still "projects", they will have to prove they deserve to be in the "53" I guess. Unfortunately, NFL teams don't have a developmental league as in the NHL.

Of the two players, Jason Cabinda is definitely the more established. He has come along way making the transition from LB.
Even if Nick Bawden is given the opportunity to compete with Cabinda in the summer, I think Cabinda has at least a 65 % chance to win the Lions FB job. Bawden was only healthy enough to play part of 1 of 3 seasons since he was drafted by the Lions in the 7th Round in 2018. Even in that season ( 2019 ), his play wasn't as good as what Cabinda provided in the 2020 season.
Matt Nelson is clearly still a project. Working in Nelson's favor to win a spot on the Lions Opening Day 53 man roster is the return of Hank Fraley as Offensive Line Coach.
The NFL made an enormously foolish / shortsighted mistake discontinuing the NFL Europe Developmental League. Both in terms that the league helped develop NFL players and with growing the NFL fan base in Europe. Far too many NFL owners are myopic. The NHL, MLB, and NBA have one or more developmental leagues. The NFL, which generates far more revenue than the vast majority of teams do in these other 3 Pro Sports Leagues, doesn't!
