Oddsmakers rate Detroit’s Matt Patricia among least likely for winning coach of the year
………………..
I don't recommend anyone gambling. But from the standpoint of football predictions and probability, the 50-1 odds for Matt Patricia to be NFL Coach of the Year this season seem way too high. Somewhere around 20-1 to 25-1 is much more fitting from my perspective as an NFL fan. A 5 game jump from 6 wins to 11 wins might be enough for Patricia to win the award. Especially, if the Lions win their first Division Title in 26 years.

Here's where Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia sits on hot seat rankings
…...………
If Matt Patricia goes, it will be very difficult justifying that Bob Quinn remains. Matthew Stafford easily ( probably ) could be elsewhere as well if there's a regime change.
If Matthew Stafford is relatively healthy, the Lions should be expected to be very competitive in the NFC North. Even, factoring in the difficult schedule. However, another slow start to the season wouldn't surprise me at all.

Matt Patricia explains why he didn’t challenge for PI on Kerryon Johnson play ……………
This thread relates to the following thread:
Chiefs 34, Lions 30: Game # 4 ( 2019 )
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/409/chiefs-34-lions-game-2019
Because of the face mask infraction as part of pass interference, I think there was a better chance ( than the Danny Amendola play in Philadelphia )the incomplete call on the field would have been reversed.
Having said that, the risk of using a replay challenge in the 2nd half is high because a lost timeout if the play isn't reversed is potentially much more damaging.
Also, because of the mistake Matt Patricia made in the first half in challenging a measurement following a 2nd down play, the Lions only had 1 challenge remaining in the game.
With everything factored in, I'm comfortable with the decision of Matt Patricia not challenging the Kerryon Johnson play.

Just ANOTHER bad in-game decision by Matt Patricia.

If the Lions would have scored a TD to make the score 35-33, failed to convert the 2 point play, and lost the game, Matt Patricia would have been under more public heat than he already is.

Lions’ Matt Patricia takes over at least some defensive playcalling, mum on how much
…………….
Even though the Lions gave up 4 TDs to tbe Giants, Da'Shawn Hand had a substantial positive impact in that game. That was the only game Hand finished in the first 11 ( he only played in 2 games ) and the only game the Lions won since starting the season at 2-0-1. Even with my concerns about the main Defensive scheme, Hand would have likely been a positive difference maker in multiple games the Lions ended up losing.
