Detroit Lions officially announce 2021 coaching staff
.........
One difference between Dan Campbell's first Lions Coaching Staff, compared to Lions Coaching Staff's for a long time, is the Lions under Campbell are depending less on Assistant position coaches ( at least in terms of Title ).

It's a Lions version of a door opening NFL coaching type opportunity that those considered minorities by the NFL, are eligible for. Ty Warren, Leon Washington, and Billy Yates previously had this opportunity.
Bill Yates went on to become the Lions Assistant Offensive Line Coach under Hank Fraley. Yates isn't on Dan Campbell's staff, which surprised me after seeing that Fraley was retained by Campbell and that Yates didn't get a higher level job elsewhere.
Leon Washington was recently hired by the Jets as their Assistant Special Teams Coach.
Ty Warren wasn't retained by Dan Campbell.
To the best of my knowledge, Yates and Warren are not currently employed in the NFL or on any level of football.
I'm in favor of door opening coaching opportunities. However, I am against a particular opportunity only be open to someone because of their race or any other classification that isn't merit based.

Report: Patriots add Billy Yates to coaching staff
.......
Much like with Leon Washington, Billy Yates is now a coach for an AFC East team he played with. Yates began his NFL playing career with the Dolphins, beating the odds with them as an UDRFA for 1 season, before being released the next summer.
