Lions losing 2 offensive assistants, including QB coach George Godsey………………………….. ALLEN PARK -- Jim Bob Cooter isn’t the only Detroit Lions coach who won’t be back in 2019. Quarterbacks coach George Godsey is expected to take a job working with the tight ends in Miami, according to ESPN, while running backs coach David Walker has announced he will step away from coaching. Detroit also will be looking for a new position coach for Matthew Stafford, with Godsey reportedly headed for South Beach. Godsey originally was hired to provide an offensive expertise for the defense in 2017, then was re-assigned to the quarterbacks by incoming coach Matt Patricia last year. Stafford proceeded to have one of the worst seasons of his career, although injuries around him and to him certainly played a role in that. ………………….. The connections from New England on the expected new Miami Dolphins Coaching Staff very likely played a major role in George Godsey planning on joining the Dolphins Coaching Staff.
