"the Lions will be much more competitive against the Vikings on Sunday than back on November 8 in Minneapolis"
In contrast, the Vikings will be much more "un-competitive"

PFT’s NFL Week 17 2020 picks
Vikings (-7) at Lions
MDS’s take: The Lions look like they’ve totally quit on the season. The Vikings win a meaningless game.
MDS’s pick: Vikings 31, Lions 14.
Florio’s take: Neither team should want to win this game, since winning means a lower draft pick. The Vikings are more in need of an ego boost heading into the postseason, if only to make the inevitable 2021 hot seats a little less toasty.
Florio’s pick: Vikings 27, Lions 17.
....
Agreed, Frenchy.
Regardless of which other Vikings RB carries the ball, none of them come close to the differential explosive skills Dalvin Cook has. Cook opens up the Vikings play action fake bootlegs, and their overall passing game.
Eric Kendricks displayed in the Vikings win, the last time these teams played, that he's also a special player. His end zone interception against Matthew Stafford wasn't a routine play. Kendricks is a tremendous all around LB. The glue to the Vikings Defense! When combined with Danielle Hunter and Anthony Barr out for the season and the youth at CB for the Vikings, it's not surprising that the dam broke on their Defense after Kendricks went down. With Matthew Stafford ( if he plays and remains in the game ), I expect the Lions to score at least 3 TDs.

........
One thing in particular I'm highly confident about is the Vikings won't be tanking as long as Mike Zimmer is their Head Coach.

Four things to look forward to about the Vikings' Week 17 game vs. the Lions
......
Regardless which team ends up winning this game, I expect Justin Jefferson to break the NFL Rookie Receiving Yardage record in this game. Another Home Run draft selection by GM Rick Spielman.
Troy Dye impressed me in some games with his football intelligence.
D.J. Wonnum has displayed good pass rush ability as a rookie. At the very least, I think he will be a good rotation DE off the bench over the long haul, if he stays relatively healthy much more often than not.

TE Irv Smith may also have an increased number of snaps even with Kyle Rudolph coming back. Justin Jefferson is having a fantastic rookie season. With Adam Thielen, they are forming one of the best receivers-duo in the NFL.

Irv Smith had 2 Red Zone TDs in the Vikings win over the Lions back in early November. With the 2 WRs you mentioned, this is a dangerous 3-some moving forward.
With the improvements Tyler Conklin has been making, it wouldn't surprise me if the Vikings move on from Kyle Rudolph in 2021, because of their problematic Salary Cap situation.
