David, I know you're not a soccer aficionado, but Diego Maradona (1960 - 2020 - Argentina), nicknamed "el pibe de oro" (the golden boy) is one of the few names you have to know to shine in society. He had a sulfurous reputation off the field, with drugs and Camorra-related stories when he played for Napoli (Italy), but on the field, he was by far the best of his generation, an exceptional talent with unmatched dribbling abilities.

Frenchy, no question I don't follow soccer closely. That's an understatement. The only times I can recall watching an entire soccer match, or more than a few minutes of a match since the NASL folded in the 1980s, was during most World Cups.
I do recall watch Diego Maradona lead Argentina to the 1986 World Cup. I'm sorry about his passing.
Along with Paolo Rossi, who led Italy to a World Cup in that time frame, Maradona was the World Cup Player that jumps out as the best World Cup Player in that era.

Very sad news.
I thought about our discussion when I saw that Paolo Rossi passed away.
Even as someone with very little knowledge of the finer points of soccer ( European Football ) , it was evident to me that Paolo Rossi was a unique player. Considering the passion for the sport in Italy and the immense impact that Paolo Rossi had, it's highly likely that Italy is in a period of National Mourning.
