It wasn't pretty but Matt Nelson performed well enough to enable the Lions to secure the win over the Jaguars without the game becoming close. Good job by the coaches and everyone who aided Nelson along the way since he made the transition to Offensive Tackle.

During the 2019 Pre-Draft process, the Lions brass probably envisioned major upside potential for Matt Nelson at Offensive Tackle. Otherwise, why invest the time, energy, and resources in him as an Offensive Tackle prospect?

One thing in particular I am not remotely sure about is who would have come into the game at Tackle if Taylor Decker or Matt Nelson, suffered an injury, after Tyrell Crosby was injured? Oday Aboushi and Joe Dahl both played Tackle extensively in college. But both for good reasons were moved inside on the NFL level.

The Lions might need to elevate Dan Skipper from the Practice Squad, at least for the Packers game.
