Detroit Lions open as 3-point favorites for Week 6 game against Jacksonville Jaguars
.........
The Lions being road favorites against any other NFL team is a spot that I have major concerns the Lions can handle.
The Jaguars were without arguably their 3 best players on Defense in Houston yesterday because of injuries: DE Josh Allen, LB Myles Jack, and rookie CB C.J. Henderson. Jack was on the Jaguars 2017 season team as a rookie and was having a Pro Bowl caliber 2020 season in the early going. As expected, Henderson as a rookie CB has been inconsistent. But he was a huge factor in their opening day upset win over Indianapolis. Allen has differential ability off the edge. It remains to be seen if one or more will be available against the Lions.
Former Lions CB D.J..Hayden, who signed with the Jaguars as an UFA in 2018, is on Short Term I.R.. He's been used Primarily as a Nickel CB in Jacksonville and has been a bright spot for the Jaguars in their recent seasons.
Offensively, WR D.J. Chark, the Jags best deep WR, suffered an ankle injury in the 4th QTR in Houston. When Chark was out vs. the Dolphins, it had an affect on the Jags Offense much like the adversely affect when Kenny Golladay was out the first 2 games for the Lions.
The Jaguars kicking game ( two missed FGs, including a 24 yard FG late in the 2nd QTR ), had a trickle affect on the team. Including, a very question 2nd half play call on a 4th Down in the Red Zone in which a Halfback option from the Wildcat was called. The play failed and the Jaguars never recovered. I expect the Jaguars to make yet another change at kicker this week.
