The main thing is with the 2022 Salary Cap, the Lions will be clear of the vast majority of the dead money associated with the players that the Lions have already moved on from. It also would give the Lions more flexibility to trade Taylor Decker in 2022, if that's the direction Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell decide to go in.
