Opinion: Detroit Lions earned 'B-plus' for 2020 NFL draft haul
………………
My overall post-draft grade for the Lions 2020 Draft will likely either be a B+ or a B.
I thought the Logan Stenberg selection, when coupled with the decision to add draft capital by trading down, was a neutral/ average grade decision.
The trade up in Round 3 in order to draft Jonah Jackson cost the Lions the third pick of Round 5 and going down 15 spots in Round 6. For a player that many believe was a reach in the 3rd Round.
The 7th Round choice of Jashon Cornell in Round 7 is one I'm disappointed about, compared to other options. But because the 7th Round has the lowest weight in grading the draft, that decision isn't going to lower my overall draft grade unless it's on a border line.
Otherwise, I'm pleased by all of the Lions draft decisions from the 2020 Draft.

NFC North draft grades: Packers did WHAT?! Vikes, Lions shine
…………………..
BIGGEST SLEEPER: Julian Okwara, Edge, Notre Dame Detroit Lions, Round 3, No. 67 overall
RANK 2 LIONS: A- ……………
One thought that has come to mind and was reinforced when reading what Gennaro Filice about the Lions selection of Julian Okwara is the benefit of keeping Romeo Okwara in the fold beyond the 2020 season. Romeo Okwara doesn't have the talent of his younger brother. However, the intangible element of the two being teammates and Romeo's versatility on the Defensive Line, both have significant value beyond Romeo's performance level on the field.

Hey David, it's time to designate your "roaring rookie of the year" :
Jeff Okudah D'Andre Swift Julian Okwara Jonah Jackson Logan Stenberg Quintez Cephus Jason Huntley John Penisini Jashon Cornell
Obviously there are not so many candidates since some have been cut and / or have never been on the field but which one would be your RR (independently of their draft spot) ?

Frenchy, I'm planning on waiting until a day or two following the final game of the Lions season to make my selection.
Right now, it's a 3 way close race between D'Andre Swift, Jonah Jackson, and John Penisini. A case can be made for all 3. There's no one else even in the conversation.

My selection for Roaring Rookie of the Year is D'Andre Swift. Even factoring in the inconsistencies of Swift, his positive impact on the Lions was apparent both in the games he played in and the 3 games that he missed. Ending up with 10 TDs ( 8 Rushing and 2 Receiving ) in 13 games and a 4.6 yard rushing average behind an Offensive Line that had plenty of injuries, is impressive. That much more in 2020 conditions and Swift missing plenty of time because of injury in training camp.
Jonah Jackson is my # 2 choice. Started all 16 games. Inconsistent but plenty of high end play.
John Penisini is my 3rd choice. Very good effort on his part. He played more as a rookie than I could have imagined before the start of the regular season. The key question moving forward is what is his upside potential?

Same podium : 1 - D'Andre Swift for his capability to make something happen out of nothing when the line is struggling to make a push. Has the potential to be a differential player. 2 - Jonah Jackson for his durability and versatility. He will come back stronger next season and I am confident he will become a stalwart of the future OL. 3 - John Penisini, a powerful grinder in the middle. Unfortunately, only a 2-down player, which is not the most sought-after type of player in this heavy passing league.
