Being that Jarrad Davis' trade value is probably on the low side at this time and that his 2020 base salary is less than $ 2 million, it doesn't make sense for the Lions to trade Davis. I agree that there's no validity to the trade rumor.

Because the 5th Year option is guaranteed for injury only, until sometime next March, a solid case can be made that the Lions should exercise the 5th Year option with Jarrad Davis.

I think the Lions decision is at or near 50-50 in terms of whether the option will be exercised.

I hope the Lions exercise the option. At least this way, it gives the Lions security if Davis has his best season yet, in 2020.

There's a difference between Eric Ebron and Jarrad Davis, from the standpoint of the criticism that has come their way. With Davis, the criticism is football related only. With Ebron, it was football related and too often a lack of maturity. Not to mention, the players the Lions passed up in order to draft Ebron. With Rams DT Aaron Donald at the head of the list.

The ankle injury Jarrad Davis suffered in the 3rd pre-season game vs. Buffalo last summer kept him out until game # 3 of the regular season at Philadelphia. It's hard to gauge to what extent that set Davis back after he returned to game action.

Also, the Lions pass rush didn't help Davis or anyone in coverage for the Lions, compared to players on other teams.

I understand the decision by Bob Quinn. But I disagree with it. The end result is the 2020 season is probably the last season for Davis with the Lions.

Joe, under the circumstance of the Lions loss, I thought Jared Davis played well with the overall opportunities he had. It seems like he plays better in a role with much less than full snaps.

I'm also glad to see Davis continue to take a mature and professional approach. This, despite adversity that came his way, and in this game, his team's way as well.

The question that comes to mind is whether it's in the best interest of the Lions to increase Jarrad Davis' snap count on Defense substantially, as he now has a track record of playing better with a much more limited snap total? It's very good to see Davis rebound from the Packers game and how he had handled the lower workload.

In addition to Jarrad Davis having a strong Defensive performance in Jacksonville, I thought he did a great job on Kickoff Coverage.

Jarrard Davis is easy for me to root for. Davis hasn't lived up to his draft billing. But he's been a professional.

Most likely, Jarrad Davis will sign a short term prove it type of contract as an UFA. Davis has done a good job on Special Teams this season, which adds to his value. In a more simplified aggressive scheme, I think Davis has a chance to be a solid or better starter in 2021.
