Clemson’s do-everything Isaiah Simmons cements his place as candidate for Lions with big combine
……………..
in addition to Isaiah Simmons' blazing 40 time, he had a 39" inch vertical jump at the Combine.
Simmons' draft stock very likely went up as a result of the Combine. There are some additional physical tests Simmons didn't do that he probably will do at the Clemson Pro Day. But right now, it's hard to imagine Simmons not being a top 10 pick. With a top 5 selection probably at least a 50% chance.

...…………..
Based on this information, the Lions shouldn't taken Zack Baun with pick # 35 or anytime in 2nd or even 3rd Round of the Draft. I'm going on the assumption the info is accurate.

The Top 5: Isaiah Simmons remains in mix for Lions as NFL draft’s most versatile player
Of the 3 players, Jeff Okudah, Isaiah Simmons, and Derrick Brown, I believe Simmons is the most likely to be taken before the Lions are back on the clock. If Simmons is by far the highest rated of the 3 players on the Lions Draft Board, then a solid case can be made that the Lions should remain in the # 3 spot in order to draft him. Under the assumption that Chase Young was already taken.

Detroit Lions need more help at LB to complete defensive overhaul: The options
………………
Jamie Collins isn't a long term solution but he might be a short term solution.
I don't anticipate K’Lavon Chaisson being available at pick # 35, or even close.
Zack Baun is too risky to take if available at # 35 because he tested positive for a diluted sample at the Combine.
Josh Uche seems like a better option if the Lions can get him in a trade down a few spots lower than # 35.
Terrell Lewis would be worth considering if he lasts to pick # 67 in the early part of Round 3.
Casey Toohill is a large school developmental player, who might be one of the better options as early as pick # 85.

2020 NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions could still land impact linebacker on Day 2
……………….
If Patrick Queen unexpectedly drops to pick # 35, I don't think the Lions will taken him. The reason being, he's substantially undersized, based on the standards of Matt Patricia. It's the same reason why I believe the Lions wouldn't take Akeem Davis-Gaither with either of the team's current picks in Round 3 or anywhere in Round 3.
Willie Gay Jr. could go as high as the first half of Round 2. The reason why I project him to be a Round 3 Supplemental Pick is character issues. That's the reason why the Lions would be taking a significant risk bringing him into the team fold, period.
The concern I have with Logan Wilson is he might not have the movement skills to be effective enough in Man to Man Coverage. Wilson will probably be taken in the late 2nd Round through the end of the 3rd Round.
Curtis Weaver is intriguing, if available at pick # 67 in the early part of Round 3. He was a highly productive pass rusher with Boise St. Some teams would use him primarily as a DE, others would view him as a 3-4 type OLB. So much could depend on how teams view him long term in coverage. The Lions probably wouldn't draft Weaver unless the team brass believes he will have the versatility to be effective as a DE and an OLB.
