Giants may have a shot at Chase Young after all
……………….
At this time, I think it's highly unlikely that Chase Young will fall to pick # 4. If he falls to pick # 3, the Lions should draft Young unless another team provides a ridiculously good trade offer to the Lions.

What are the chances Chase Young falls to Detroit?
………………
There's a realistic possibility that the Redskins remain committed to Dwayne Haskins as their starting QB and trade down from pick # 2. Regardless of what the Redskins do with pick # 2, the Lions have an excellent opportunity with pick # 3.

No-nonsense Derrick Brown would give Lions a 'straight animal' on defensive line
…………………
Derrick Brown is a huge and powerful DT. Though I view him as a candid to be pick # 3 by the Lions, right now it seems more likely the Lions will draft another player if the team remains in the # 3 spot. With Brown having a better chance of being drafted by the Lions lower in the top 10, if the Lions trade down.

Lions 2020 draft preview: Options to help Detroit's paltry pass rush come with concerns
………………
The lack of an off-season program at the Lions Allen Park Training Facility is going to make it more difficult for rookie Defensive Lineman and Edge Rushers in general to be effective on a consistent basis in the 2020 season. Chase Young is probably a rare exception.
If any of the following DEs are available with pick # 35, the Lions should seriously consider them if the Lions don't land Chase Young:
K'Lavon Chaisson, A.J. Epenesa, Yetur Gross-Matos.
Chances are, at least 2 of them will be gone before that point in time.
Josh Uche probably won't last to Round 3. If he does last to Pick # 67, he easily could be too valuable for the Lions to pass up. So much could depend on if the Lions envision him as a long term asset in coverage. Versatility is a key criteria with this team brass.
More likely than not, Terrell Lewis will be taken before Round 3. If Lewis lasts to pick # 67, I can easily envision the Lions rolling the dice on him based on potential and the Alabama background.

2020 NFL draft preview: Defensive line options aplenty even if Lions miss on Chase Young
…………………
Regarding pick # 35 in Round 2:
LSU DE-OLB K'Lavon Chaisson would be appealing at # 35 but I don't think he will come close to lasting to that spot of the draft. A.J. Epenesa , Yetur Gross-Matos, and Ross Blacklock look like good options for the Lions if one or more fall to that spot in the draft. I'm borderline at this time if Neville Gallimore fits this category.
Ideally, the Lions will address the Defensive Line/ Edge Rusher in the first 2 Rounds of the draft.
Raekwon Davis reminds me in some ways of his former Alabama D-Line Teammate, D'Shawn Hand. Like Hand, Davis wasn't as productive with Alabama as his abilities seem to indicate should have been the case. Both have length and versatility. They fit the Lions Defensive system. When relatively healthy, Hand has often been one of the Lions best players. If the Lions brass believes that the team's coaching staff, particularly Defensive Line Coach Bo Davis, can unlock Davis' potential, and he checks out favorably from a character standpoint, he's someone the Lions should seriously consider with pick # 67 in the early part of Round 3.

Homelessness fueled South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw's rise. He might interest Lions in trade
………………
Javon Kinlaw has huge upside potential as an interior D-Line. Even factoring in his need to be much more consistent from a technique standpoint, Kinlaw had 6 sacks in his senior season with South Carolina.
Arguably, the # 1 concern regarding Kinlaw as an NFL Prospect is whether his knee will limit him or worse.
My preference is for the Lions to not to drop far enough in the draft which would prevent the Lions from drafting Jeff Okudah, Isaiah Simmons, or Derrick Brown. Assuming of course that Chase Young went in the top 2 picks of the draft.

The Top 5: If Chase Young is there for Detroit, he’s the pick. Period.
……………..
One question that comes to mind is would the Lions trade at least pick # 35 in the early part of Round 2 in this draft to move up one spot in Round 1 in order to be able to draft Chase Young? My guess is the Redskins would want more than just pick # 35 to move down from # 2 to # 3. Maybe even MUCH more.
