Detroit Lions acquire QB David Blough in trade with Cleveland Browns
…...…….
The Lions apparently gave up very little, if anything for David Blough. But by trading for Blough, everything points to Blough being on the Lions 53 man roster when the team returns to practice in the coming days.
This trade is surprising. It would be even more so if the Lions plan on only carrying 2 QBs on the 53 man roster this season. With the inexperienced Blough being Matthew Stafford's backup.
I think the Lions will go with 3 QBs. The Zach Zenner trade might have been part of the plan to make room for a developmental QB on the 53 man roster if the opportunity presented itself.

The Lions have been eyeing David Blough since campus visit to Purdue
……………
David Blough is light years from being a version of Drew Brees. But the two Purdue products have some similarities in addition to playing College Football with Purdue. Both are under 6-1". Both displayed good accuracy, intelligence, and pocket presence in college. Both have strong intangibles.
Time will tell if the Lions keep David Blough on the 53 man roster all season. The combination of the progress Blough is making, the risk of exposing Blough to waivers, and the need for a roster spot in a given time span, all will likely factor in how the Lions proceed with Blough.

Detroit Lions QB David Blough to start vs. Chicago Bears
……………..
The Bears Defense is challenging enough for veteran QBs to go up against, let alone a rookie QB who has never played in an NFL regular season game. With not many practice reps with starters. But this is the hand the Lions are dealt. It's not an impossible situation.
