Because Brandon Powell apparently suffered a knee injury near the end of the joint practice, at the very least his status for tonight seems up in the air.


Other than T.J. Hockenson, Jahlani Tavai, and Amani Oruwariye, all selected by the Lions in the 2019 Draft, the other 7 players highlighted in the article are in the process of trying to win a roster spot. Miles Killebrew probably has the highest % chance of these 7 players to be with the Lions come opening day next month.

Like I expressed in other threads, because of Kenny Wiggins contract, he probably is far from a lock to make the Lions 53 man roster if he's not a starter. The Lions might ask Wiggins to restructure his contract downward.

A huge obstacle Mark Thompson must overcome is does Thompson have enough unique skills to earn a 53 man roster spot at the start of the regular season? My guess is he will have to go the Practice Squad Route if he's going to eventually get an opportunity on the Lions 53 man roster.
