NFL draft 2019: Detroit Lions add WR Travis Fulgham, RB Ty Johnson in sixth round
………….
This thread relates to the following threads:
NFL Draft Preview:Wide Receivers ( 2019 )
Mock Draft ( 2019 ) - DLF Members
Travis Fulgham seems to have value that's reflective of the spot of the draft he was taken or a little higher.
A case can certainly be made that the Lions should have taken North Carolina State WR Kelvin Harmon in Round 6 instead of Fulgham. Harmon, who I thought would go in tatter part of Round 2, was taken by the Redskins with pick # 206 in the latter part of Round 6. Harmon probably has better all around receiving skills. Fulgham appears to be a better fit in the Red Zone. Fulgham's strengths are his size, overall length ( long arms ), and ball skills. He demonstrates the desire to come down with the ball.
Other than size, body control, good leaping ability, ball skills, and toughness, Fulgham appears to have limitations. He has below average speed and separation skills.
Fulgham is probably going to have to demonstrate differential red zone skills to have a lengthy NFL playing career. Special Teams could easily be a major factor in whether Fulgham is on the Lions 53 man roster throughout his rookie season. He's a potential Practice Squad candidate if released and he clears waivers.
I view the Travis Fulgham selection in with pick # 184 in Round 6 as an solid to good choice based on overall options.
