Hopefully, DaRon Gilbert will be cleared to practice later this season, whether he's back with the Lions or with another team.
Essang Bassey has a major uphill battle to be on the Lions opening day 53 man roster. If Bassey picks up the Lions Defensive system relatively quickly, he has a realistic shot at getting a Practice Squad opportunity with the Lions sometime this season. He's probably going to have to demonstrate that he likely would be an asset for the Lions on Special Teams, if given opportunities in regular season games.
