This is obviously a substantial setback for J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings, in his development as an NFL QB. Even if the injury only keeps McCarthy out 4 weeks, the practice reps and pre-season snaps he would have received if relatively healthy, would have helped him greatly in his development.
