With the Lions upgrading the DT unit this off-season, Broderic Martin needs to make major progress in 2024 for him to get on the field on Defense substantially more often. It's very welcome news that Martin is in much better physical shape than he was during his rookie season.

The combination of Brodric Martin transforming his body, having an NFL season under his belt, having D.J. Reader as a mentor, and the addition of highly respected Defensive Line coach Terrell Williams should all contribute to Broderic Martin being much better equipped for his 2nd NFL season.

If the Lions expect Broderic Martin to miss more than one game, I think there's a good chance he will be placed on Short Term I.R. later this week, sometime after the Lions 53 man roster is set at 53.

Martin had an up and down pre-season. He certainly still a long way from being a finished product/ where the Lions hope he will eventually be at while with the team.
