Lions free agency: Detroit loses G Jonah Jackson to Rams
Jonah Jackson agrees to a massive free agent deal with the Rams
........
This new thread relates to the following thread and the thread links in that discussion:
Lions re-signing G-C Graham Glasgow to a 3 year contract

It's not surprising that the Jonah Jackson is signing elsewhere. Ideally, the Lions would have liked to retain Jackson. With the financial investment that's going to be needed to sign Penei Sewell to a contract extension, with Jared Goff and Amon Ra-St. Brown also very likely receiving lucrative contract extensions, and Alim McNeill entering the final season of his rookie contract, it's more than understandable the Lions decided not to give Jackson the type of contract the LA Rams are giving him.
Jonah Jackson will be teammates again with Matthew Stafford, who he played with in Jackson's rookie season (2020).
The Lions now need to make a significant external veteran addition at Guard and very realistically address Guard in the early or mid-rounds of the 2024 Draft.

Rams bench ex-Lion Jonah Jackson after loss
........
Kevin Zeitler has certainly been a short-term upgrade for the Lions at RG than what Jonah Jackson was at LG.
If the LA Rams release Jonah Jackson in the upcoming off-season, at a favorable price for the Lions, Jackson would be well worth considering. Most likely, Jackson would need to re-establish himself at a heavy discount price on a 1-year contract, to get a better contract from a team the following year.
