Detroit Lions sign veteran backup QB Tom Savage
…………….
I'm not remotely confident that Tom Savage can even hold the fort if he's called into game action for 1 to 4 games. His collective performance in games hasn't equaled his physical ability. Considering how many teams have moved on from Savage in a relatively short period of time, I'm not counting on the light going on for him with the Lions.

Lions sign Tom Savage to compete for backup job
………………………………………….
The only aspect of the Lions decision to sign Tom Savage that's a positive to me is the familiarity factor with Lions new QB Coach Sean Ryan. That should make the transition for Savage to the Lions more smooth.
Having said this, it's far from a given Savage will be with the Lions in the regular season. A mid round selection at QB by the Lions in the draft is still a very realistic possibility.

Tom Savage?!? This is what we’ve been waiting for? I don’t think this signing affects the Lions’ draft plans at all; I, also, think they’ll be drafting a QB in the middle rounds.

Joe, I hope that Bob Quinn has a similar mindset regarding QB, as it relates to the draft.
