Detroit Lions to host Kentucky's Josh Allen, a likely top-five pick

NFL Draft Preview: Defensive Lineman ( 2019 )
I would be thrilled if Josh Allen lasts to pick # 8 and the Lions then select him. I'm not remotely counting on Allen to last to pick # 8. At this time, I think Allen will be drafted in the # 2,# 3, or # 4 spot. He makes a tremendous amount of sense for the 49ers, Jets, and Raiders, the teams currently in those spots.
Josh Allen is exhibit A on the benefits of returning for a Senior College Season. Allen got stronger and improved his hand use. That led to him improving substantially against the run and as a pass rusher. He could still add some pass rush moves. Overall, Allen is already one of the most complete players in the draft. His versatility, including in coverage, definitely should appeal to Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia.
