NFL Draft Preview: Offensive Lineman ( 2023 )

William & Mary is the school that Steelers HC Mike Tomlin and Bills HC Sean McDermott attended.
Colby Sorsdal is listed at 6'5 3/8", 315 pounds. He ran a 5.15, ran a 1.91 10 yard dash, had 21 Bench Press Reps, and has 33" arm length. I believe these are numbers from his Pro Day. Sorsdal wasn't invited to the Combine.
Most likely, the Lions view Colby Sorsdal as a Guard for the long term. Someone with starting potential beyond the 2023 season. With Sorsdal also projecting as a 6th Offensive Line option if he's not a starter, a backup RT, and an emergency LT. Maybe, even an emergency Center.
This is another Lions draft selection I didn't see coming. The consensus was Colby Sorsdal wouldn't end up being drafted. Sorsdal is going to need plenty of time in the Lions Strength and Conditioning program. A major jump forward with Sorsdal should come in 2024.

Lions bench rookie OL amid struggles to contain Packers’ pass rush

Packers 29, Lions 22: Game # 11 ( 2023 )
detroit-lions-forum.proboards.com/thread/1949/packers-29-lions-game-2023
Colby Sorsdal has demonstrated winning level starter potential as a run blocking and pass blocker at Guard, during the regular season. With some rough patches, which isn't surprising, when considering he was a RT in College, against ordinary competition for the most part.
Sorsdal struggled against the Packers to the point that it was best to see if Kayode Awosika could provide more dependability. As it turned out, Awosika also struggled. It was most noticeable against power and on screen passes. I'm very uncertain how the Lions should proceed at LG, if Jonah Jackson remains out.
