Lions to work out wide receiver Dontrelle Inman
………………….
Dontrelle Inman was used as a # 2 WR by the Colts. I thought he did a good job for them in the playoffs this past January.
The questions that come to mind are why 3 teams were comfortable moving on from him in recent seasons, including the salary cap rich Colts this season.
It's possible they will still re-sign Inman. But he clearly isn't a priority or anything close for them
Also, what is his asking price? Based on performance, Inman would be a good addition for the Lions.

A few more tidbits from Phoenix• NFL Network reported Monday the Lions are hosting wide receiver Dontrelle Inman on a free-agent visit. Inman, 30, caught 28 passes for 304 yards with the Indianapolis Colts last season. He’s hardly a game-changer, but he would give the Lions another big receiver to play outside if he signs. The Lions already have added two receivers this offseason, Danny Amendola and Tommylee Lewis, and they return Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones from last year. Jones is on an affordable enough deal (he makes just $6.5 million this fall) that it doesn’t make sense to trade him, but I still wonder about his fit with Lions coach Matt Patricia. ………..
If the Lions sign Dontrelle Inman to a mid size $ contract, that will increase the chances of Marvin Jones being traded in the weeks or months ahead. The draft could in addition play a key role how the Lions proceed with Jones.

Patriots release Dontrelle Inman
Analyzing the terms for WR Dontrelle Inman's contract with Patriots
Inman to visit
Dontrelle Inman slated to visit Lions
…………………….
Being that the Lions watched Dontrelle Inman up-close in joint practices and in the pre-season opener against the Patriots, an assessment on Inman in terms of where he is physically shouldn't be difficult. Hence, being that the Lions are bringing in Inman for a visit and he previously had a visit with the Lions, I expect a contract to be worked out as long as Inman is willing to sign at a more team friendly contract than the one he signed with the Patriots. At this point in time, the Lions seem to have more contract leverage.
Even factoring that Inman was released by the Patriots, he probably would be the Lions # 4 WR/ top outside backup option on the outside. I think he got caught in a numbers game in New England. With the Patriots doing him a favor by releasing him with time to practice and play in another team's final two pre-season games.

Dontrelle Inman visiting Jets
…………………
A question that comes to mind is whether the Lions and Dontrelle Inman didn't agree on a contract despite making a contract attempt? Or whether the Lions didn't make Inman an offer? My guess is it's the former. Whether Inman is still a possibility for the Lions remains to seen.
