I expressed the following in the 'Round 1a: RB Jahmyr Gibbs ( Alabama ) : Pick # 12 ( 2023 )' thread:

Unless the Lions can get a trade offer for D'Andre Swift that's better than a late Round Pick or even worse an exchange of late Round Picks, I hope the Lions keep Swift for the 2023 season. With Jamison Williams suspended for the first 6 games, the Lions can definitely use all 3 of the team's top RBs.

Even a straight up 5th Round Pick in the 2023 Draft probably isn't enough for the Lions to get enough value for D'Andre Swift.

After drafting Jahmyr Gibbs, D’Andre Swift is the odd man out for the Detroit Lions

A 5th Round Pick in 2024 is in essence the equivalent of a 6th Round Pick in 2023. Even with Brad Holmes' track record of drafting Malcolm Rodriguez and James Houston in the 6th Round of the 2022 Draft, I hope the Lions insist on more in return for Swift. As in at least a straight up 4th Round Pick in 2023 or a straight up 3rd Round Pick in 2024.
