Ben Raven’s final 2023 NFL mock draft: Detroit Lions grab 2 blue-chip defenders
............
While I don't think Calijah Kancey should be ruled out for the Lions with Pick # 18, it would surprise (not shock) me if he's the Lions draft selection. The reason being, Kancey has very short arms for a DT (30 5/8"). Aaron Donald's arm length is 32 5/8", two full inches longer.
Under this draft scenario with the first 17 picks, Broderick Jones would probably get serious consideration by the Lions. While Jones would probably enter his rookie season as a backup, as early as the 2024 season, Jones could very realistically be a long term solution at LT. Taylor Decker turns 30 in August and is under contract only through the 2024 season. Next off-season, the Lions might be able to get as much as a 1st Round Pick in the lower half of Round 1 for Decker. Most likely, Jones will be drafted before the Lions are scheduled to be on the clock with Pick # 18. With the Lions more likely than not passing on Jones if he's available at # 18. But Jones being available would give the Lions an intriguing long term option at a key position.

Detroit News NFL mock draft 3.0: Could Lions trade out of No. 6 pick?
.......
If the scenario with the Lions and Titans presents itself, the Lions should make this trade 100 out of 100 times!
Even Pick # 42, without the Titans 2nd Round Pick in 2024, for the Lions to go down from Pick # 6 to Pick # 11, is a trade I hope the Lions would make under the scenario of the first 5 picks in this Mock Draft.
With both 2nd Round Picks being in this trade scenario, I also hope the Lions make this trade if Tyree Wilson is available at # 6.
Will Anderson, if available at # 6, is the only player in this draft, that I would need to even think about whether the Lions should make this trade.
