With the Colts having a Head Coach Vacancy, Scottie Montgomery became available.

Scottie Montgomery was Associate Head Coach with Duke, in addition to other roles with Duke. One of his roles was Offensive Coordinator. He was the Head Coach with East Carolina for close to 3 full seasons, following his time on the Duke Coaching Staff.

With Montgomery having a variety of coaching experience, including with the coaching positions he was hired with the Lions, he should be well prepared for his opportunity with the Lions.

The odds are clearly against Scottie Montgomery being hired by the Bucs this winter as Offensive Coordinator. The high number of candidates the Bucs have already interviewed for the position by itself works against Montgomery to land the job.

To the best of my knowledge, Duce Staley, who Scottie Montgomery is attempting to replace, is the only Lions Assistant Coach who was on the Lions 2022 season staff at the end of season, who's no longer with the Lions.
