Lions keep cornerback Marcus Cooper
………………
Assuming the contract is at or near the NFL Veteran Minimum, it's a good decision by the Lions to re-sign Marcus Cooper.
It's far from a given Cooper will make the Lions opening day roster. However, Cooper provides legit competition at CB ( for a backup outside CB job ) and on Special Teams.
The re-signing of Cooper doesn't lessen the need for legit starting competition at outside CB, opposite Darius Slay.

Contract info on four recent Detroit Lions signings:
Cooper's one-year deal has an $805,000 base salary -- $150,000 of which is guaranteed. He also had a $90,000 signing bonus. He carries a cap hit of $735,000 and would cost the Lions $240,000 in dead money if he's cut.
…...…………………………………
Though this is an NFL Veteran Minimum Contract the Lions can easily move on from, Marcus Cooper received far more guaranteed money ( $ 240,000 ), relatively speaking, than the other 3 players mentioned in the article that the Lions signed.
