No surgery expected for banged up Lions QB Matthew StaffordThis thread relates to the following thread:Lions 31, Packers 0 : Game # 16 ( 2018 ) Hopefully, Matthew Stafford won't need surgery this off-season and that he can stay relatively healthy much more often than not ( at the very least ) moving forward. At times in this game. Matthew Stafford's throwing mechanics and / or footwork appeared to be sloppy. This affected his accuracy on some plays, even on some completions.
Having said that, Stafford made a number of throws that reflect a high level QB. Including, the final TD of the game ( and season ) to T.J. Jones. Great ball placement and adjustment by Jones, who improved noticeably in the last two games. But I still believe the two parties ( Lions and Jones ) will go in a different direction. Jones is much better against zone coverage than bump and run man to man coverage.
The protection by Stafford was good for the most part in this game. But when under pressure, Stafford displayed good pocket awareness. His decision making was very good in this game.
