NFL sets franchise, transition tag salaries for 2022 season
........
It's highly unlikely that the Lions will use the Franchise Tag on S Tracy Walker. No other UFA on the Lions has even a remote chance of the Franchise Tag or Transition Tag being placed on him this year. There's maybe as much as a 10% chance the Lions place the Transition Tag on Walker, because Safety is currently the team's weakest position unit.

Browns use franchise tag on David Njoku

The Lions very likely wouldn't have made a serious attempt to sign David Njoku, if he hit the open market as an UFA. T.J. Hockenson is heading for a big pay day. The investment the Lions make at TE this off-season (with the possible exception of signing Hockenson to a long term contract extension) will be much lower cost oriented. Probably, with an emphasis on blocking.

Dolphins use franchise tag on Mike Gesicki

The Dolphins entered today with the most 2022 Salary Cap Space. Hence, using the Franchise Tag on Mike Gesicki was an easy decision, being that a long term contract wasn't worked out.

Jaguars place second straight franchise tag on Cam Robinson

The Jaguars still have a major need at RT. They have the option of drafting a Tackle with pick # 1 and moving Cam Robinson to RT. They also could draft a Tackle with pick # 1, with the plan of playing him at RT as a rookie. An X factor is how the new Jaguars Coaching Staff views T Walker Little, who the Jaguars drafted with pick # 45 in the middle of Round, in 2021?
