2022 NFL combine: Detroit Lions should be feeling pretty set despite solid offensive line class
........
The Lions can go into the season with the projected starting 5, if they are each relatively healthy. The Lions though have to address the backup situation at Tackle, Guard, and Center. Matt Nelson does a very good job as a 6th Offensive Lineman, when used as an extra blocker. His overall play as a RT in 2021 wasn't good enough. Especially, as a pass blocker. If Evan Brown signs with another team, the interior Offensive Line depth will be as questionable as the Lions Tackle depth.
When the dust settles, I think the Lions are going to draft one Offensive Lineman. With at least one veteran FA being signed by the Lions. I don't think the Lions will draft an Offensive Tackle in the top 3 Rounds. An interior O-Line prospect could be realistically taken as high as Round 3, even with pick # 66 near the top of the Round. Big V could easily be a salary cap casualty in 2023 or 2024. Having said that, the value of the Interior O-Lineman, especially at Guard, would need to be noticeably higher than the highest rated player at most other positions. It's much more likely that the Lions don't take an Offensive Lineman until at least Round 5, unless the Lions trade down at least once in the top 3 Rounds.

Evan Neal states his case to be the No. 1 overall pick
......
When comparing the Jaguars option of using pick # 1 on T Evan Neal vs. DE / Edge Aidan Hutchinson, Neal has more upside as a LT than Hutchinson does as an edge player on Defense. However, Hutchinson has less risk from the standpoint that Hutch will maximize his abilities on every play and in preparation.

Lions OL coach Hank Fraley check out prospects at special Central Michigan pro day ........
Evan Brown and Ryan McCollum are only under contract with the Lions for the 2022 season.. Even factoring that in, unless an Offensive Lineman jumps out compared to options at other positions, I don't think the Lions will draft one in the top 3 Rounds this year.
Short Arm length (for a Tackle) is a concern with both Central Michigan 2022 O-Line Draft Prospects. Bernhard Raimann's arm length is 32 7/8". Luke Goedeke's is 32 1/4". Goedeke will very likely be a Guard in the NFL.
Raimann has a realistic chance of being drafted as high as Round 3. I would be very surprised if the Lions are the team that drafts him .
Goedeke will probably be drafted in Rounds 4 to 6. I would be surprised if the Lions ended up drafting him before the team's 5th Round Compensatory Pick ( # 177 ), unless the Lions end up with a higher 5th Round pick from.a trade down.

NFL draft preview: Detroit Lions seem poised to pass on top OL talent with No. 2 pick
......
I'm anticipating 3 Offensive Lineman being drafted in the top 10 of the draft, with a good chance of 2 going in the top 5.
I'm now predicting that Bernhard Raimann will be drafted in the top half of the 2nd Round. It's unlikely that he will even be available with pick # 66, in the early 3rd Round which would free up a player at another position for the Lions.
