Unless Tom Kennedy builds on his WR performance vs. the Bills AND demonstrates that he projects as a Special Teams asset for the Lions, I think he will fall short in his quest to be on the Lions opening day 53 man roster. My guess at this time is he will have to attempt to go the Practice Squad route again in order to try to establish himself as an NFL player.
One side note for those reading this that follow golf closely. Tom Kennedy was born in Farmingdale, NY, a town in Nassau County, Long Island that's very close to the Bethpage Black Golf Course. The U.S. Open Golf Tournament has been held there on occasion. It's considered one of the most challenging Golf Courses, even on the professional level.
This is a high quality article. One in which sums up the situation Tom Kennedy is in a week before the cutdown to 53.
I do believe that at some point in the 2021 season, Tom Kennedy will be on either the Lions 53 man roster and / IR another NFL roster. Whether Kennedy can convince the Lions team brass through action that he should be on the Lions 53 man opening day roster remains to be seen. The final pre-season game vs. the Colts game is huge for Kennedy and all the Lions players anywhere close to the roster bubble.
\With Kalif Raymond Questionable with a Thigh injury, the chances of Tom Kennedy being active in Green Bay increased that much more. If Kennedy has an opportunities in this game, either as a WR and/ or a Punt Returner, he needs to come through. He might not get another opportunity in a game, if he doesn't come through.
